Which, in my estimation is a big no bueno. Any AT&T phone can have access if it is within range. In other words, there is no way to limit access to your Cell Booster like you could with the MicroCell. To be most effective, the external antenna should be. A good, inexpensive option to improving the cellular signal is to attach an external antenna. You can connect an antenna with SMA Male connectors to one or both ports. But the major change is that it is now an open system. The Netcomm AT&T IFWA-40 Internet Device has two antenna ports which are SMA Female connectors. The Cell Booster is very similar in its operation to the MicroCell. Support is doing all that they can but just don't have all of the information they need at this point in time. Most folks have a working knowledge of what a cellular booster is but haven't a clue what a femtocell is. AT&T chose to call it a Cell Booster mainly for product recognition. It is still a femtocell like the MicroCell. Ability to access a GPS signal using the supplied GPS antenna to verify location. The Cell Booster is not to be confused with a cellular booster. The Cell Booster is primarily intended for improving cellular service (voice) in-home and the Cell Booster Pro is intended for first responders (FirstNet) and businesses. The Cell Booster will go on sale soon for $229 and the Cell Booster Pro for $669. AT&T has seeded the Cell Booster to most, if not all, existing MicroCell customers with active accounts. The AT&T Smart Home Manager app is a free. As most of you know by now, the new Cell Booster is out in the wild. You can also change your ATT WiFi password with Smart Home Manager.
